Alfredo Bañuelos for Paramount City Council, 2026
Here to Serve The Many Not The Money
All Power To The People
About us
Dear Paramount Neighbors,
This is Alfredo Banuelos, YOUR Paramount City Council Board Member candidate in the June election of 2026.
I have previously represented Paramount Residents as the Chairman and Commissioner of the Public Works Department (under the leadership of former Councilwoman Laurie Guillen; where I focused on providing solutions to issues of infrastructure like Parking congestion and addressing our local water quality.
During the covid pandemic I co-founded the Paramount Tenants Union, organizing tenant associations to improve living conditions and keep families housed
Most recently, I’ve Co-founded the Paramount Action Collective—an organization dedicated to progressive civic reform via local ballot elections…
My formal educational background is that of an accounting major from Cerritos College, and a Philosophy major at California State University—Long Beach.
Professionally, I’ve made a living as a Realtor for the last 20 years, and serve as Housing Counselor in the Non-Profit sector…
By vocation, I’m a Community Organizer & Activist—advocating for progressive policy reforms around Housing Affordability, Environmental Justice, and issues of Economic-class Equality—in general.
So, why am I running?
I run to replace Paramount city’s current political establishment because their votes on existential matters do not reflect the best interest of Paramount residents, humanity, and the planet. My political opponents have facilitated multiple local pollution crises and overall ecological degradation—by allowing industries such as Metal, Plastics, Waste, and Fuel Refinery to expand their operations at the expense of our families’ health.
I’m running for city-council to take state power away from corporate politicians and to give that power back to the residents; in the process, my intention is to elevate the residents’ level of class-consciousness and public awareness of the collective power of an informed community taking action in the struggle for our collective liberation.
If this campaign could unify and ignite a network of local coalitions, that in itself would be a great success beyond the race for council; to unify and empower the community to be a credible political threat against any local existential threat; whether it be Trump’s ICE kidnappers, industrial polluters, or the bought-out corporate-politicians.
I run because the current politicians have sold-off most of the city’s public land to private real estate developers with no permanent Affordable-housing safeguards in place.
I run because I am over complaining and I am assuming the ethical and moral responsibility of direct action toward the stewardship of our commons, toward ecological sustainability and long-term thinking—in recognition that our human survival is inextricably tied to the health of the earth’s ecosystems.
Im running because if I didn’t, nearly 80 year old, Mrs. Peggy Lemons or Annete Delgadillo (the current Incumbents and oppositional candidates) would have automatically won by default; and between them and her sister —Diane Martinez (who recently attempted fire more than 50 faculty members at Paramount Unified School District due to extreme mismanagement)—they hold a combined NEAR CENTURY of conservative control ruling over Paramount…
My Priorities Include:
1. Codifying ‘Sanctuary City’ status into binding local law, to create a unified shield that protects residents from both economic instability and exposure to cruel immigration enforcement.
2. Affordable Housing Policies and Residential Tenant Protections in order to balance the power dynamic between working families and those profiteering with basic living essentials such as shelter.
3.Impose a Polluters Tax on local polluters to assist in the financing of social welfare programs and incentivize the polluters relocation out of the city, consequently improving the residents’ health.
So if you want a working families agenda, that taxes, fines and monitors the industrial polluters in paramount (on our way to getting them out of the city), in order to finance social programs that financially assists you and your family in living live a prosperous life, then VOTE for ALFREDO.
